Once your child has progressed through CanSkate, they can move into the StarSkate program which offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of dance, skills, free skate and artistic skating.

Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a progressive and sequential manner and offers specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Skaters also have the opportunity to participate in competitions if they wish.

How do I get my skater started in StarSkate?

You might consider starting your child out with Group StarSkate. This program offers instruction in the StarSkate program but in a format that they are already familiar with from the CanSkate program. They will work with a dedicated coach and will start to work towards independent practice.

Skaters who are in the StarSkate program should consider looking for their own professional coach. Refer to the Professional Coaches roster under the “About Us” tab for a list of coaches who provide private instruction, and check out the Private Instruction section under the “Program” tab for tips on how to proceed with this.

If you have questions about StarSkate or would like to learn more, please stop by the CanSkate table.

We welcome all new and returning families to our Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, and StarSkate programs for the 2019-2020 skating season!
